Petra Dersch admitted to European Academy of Microbiology

European Academy of Microbiology has chosen the HZI scientist as new member

In January, Prof Petra Dersch, Head of the Department of Molecular Infection Biology at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, was admitted to the European Academy of Microbiology. The Academy has been in existence since 2009 and has set itself the goal of promoting microbiological research in Europe and further strengthening exchange between scientists.

"For me, being admitted to the academy is a great honor," says Petra Dersch. "The academy gives me the opportunity to improve my networking with leading microbiologists in Europe, to initiate new common ways to elucidate complex microbiological and infection-biological processes and to support the exchange of knowledge about microbial pathogens."

The European Academy of Microbiology organises conferences and congresses, arranges scientific training and develops recommendations on critical topics in microbiology. The members are renowned scientists in the field of microbiology and are elected by the academy in consultation with their board and the superordinate Federation of European Microbiological Societies.
