The Department of Viral Immunology / Laboratory of Transmission Immunology at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research is looking for a Student Assistant for up to 30 hours per month.

You will be introduced to the processes in the Laboratory of Transmission Immunology at a renowned research institution and learn the basics of day-to-day virological and immunological work.

Tasks

You will support our department in day-to-day operations. In addition, you will help us with the preparation and realization of smaller projects:

  • Accompanying quality control and immunohistochemistry for air-liquid interface (ALI) cultures
  • Supporting cell culture for virological assays, mycoplasma testing, and virus sequencing
  • Assistance in qRT-PCRs / digital droplet PCRs and flow cytometric data analyses

 

Prerequisites
  • Enrolled student at a German university or university of applied sciences with a connection to the life sciences
  • Interest in the field of virology and virus immunology and ideally first contact with sterile work, cell culture or PCR
  • Confident handling of MS Office programs (especially Excel and Word)
  • Independent and structured way of working
  • Careful work is one of the basic requirements for this responsible task
  • Organizational talent and good communication skills
Working hours

for up to 30 hours per month, by arrangement
