The HIRI is looking for a referent to support the Managing Director and the Administrative Management of HIRI.

The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) is the world's first institution of its kind to combine research on ribonucleic acids (RNA) with infection biology. Based on new findings from its strong basic research program, the institute aims to develop innovative therapeutic approaches to better diagnose and treat human infections. The HIRI is a branch of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, in cooperation with the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (JMU), and is located on the Würzburg Medical Campus.

Tasks

You will be responsibly integrated into our globally networked research environment and our excellent administrative service. You will support the institute's management in important strategic and operational projects and processes, participate in establishing and maintaining collaborations, and coordinate internal commissions and committees.
You will use your biomedical or scientific expertise to develop concepts, applications, and expert reports, and support us in reporting as well as in the preparation and follow-up of scientific or outreach events, lectures, meetings, and appointment procedures.

Prerequisites
  • University degree/master's degree in life sciences or biomedicine; doctorate or several years of experience as a consultant
  • Strong interest in HIRI's research topics
  • Good knowledge of the processes and structures of research institutes and universities
  • Quick comprehension and willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics
  • Experience in preparing applications and expert reports
  • Experience in scientific and administrative project management
  • Experience in the fields of science communication or journalism desirable
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German
  • Proficient in all common IT environments and programs
  • Excellent communication skills and results-oriented work style
  • “Can-do” spirit and the ability to think proactively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • High degree of initiative, creativity, reliability, and service orientation
Working hours

39 hours per week
