The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop innovative methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases more quickly and effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new effective drugs and vaccines.
The Department of Bioinformatics in Infection Research, headed by Prof. Dr. Alice C. McHardy, is located at the Braunschweig Integrated Center for Systems Biology (BRICS) at the Technical University of Braunschweig. It develops and uses computer-based methods to study the human microbiome and viral and bacterial pathogens based on extensive biological and epidemiological data sets. The department works closely with national and international research partners.
Tasks
- General organizational, correspondence, and coordination tasks in the secretarial area
- Organization of meetings, events (preparation and follow-up), and travel for department management
- Personnel and budget management, including support in project management (monitoring of employment contracts, administrative planning of investments) with SAP
- Maintenance of web content (BIFO website)
Prerequisites
- Completed vocational training as a secretary, in administration or commerce, or comparable training with equivalent knowledge and skills
- Very good written and spoken German
- Computer skills, especially MS Office
- Independent, efficient, accurate, and well-organized way of working
- Friendly and helpful personality
- Resilient, flexible, and a team player
Advantages for this position:
- Written and spoken English skills are desirable
- Knowledge of office management is an advantage
- Experience in financial management, with SAP and e.biss (Ariba) is desirable

15 hours per week
