As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop innovative strategies to combat infectious diseases more quickly and effectively – with the aim of creating new approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and therapy.
As part of the newly established HUMAN program, we support the careers of exceptional experts whose research helps to better understand the complex interaction between humans and infectious pathogens.
To support this program and other strategic initiatives of the HZI, we are looking for a committed and experienced fundraiser.
The position is centrally located in the scientific management department and is supported by an assistant. Close cooperation with the strategy department (responsible for the alumni program), the press and communications department, the HZI support association, and the Research Support Office is a central part of the job.
Human Microbe Alliance for Universal Health (HUMAN):
HUMAN is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK). The program is based on an integrative approach that uses novel technologies, systems biology, medicine/life sciences, and computer science to understand, predict, and therapeutically address the mechanisms underlying health and disease.
Tasks
- Developing and implementing a targeted fundraising strategy with a focus on large donations
- Identifying, approaching, and maintaining relationships with potential donors, foundations, and companies
- Establishing and maintaining a network of supporters and philanthropic partners
- Preparing and supporting negotiations and contract conclusions
- Collaborating with scientists and communication teams in the preparation of grant applications, presentations, and informational materials
- Organizing and conducting exclusive events and personal meetings to retain donors
Prerequisites
- Completed university degree, ideally in the fields of life sciences, economics, communication, or comparable
- Several years of experience in fundraising, especially in the area of major donations, or directly transferable experience, such as key account management or private wealth management
- Strong communication and negotiation skills and a confident manner
- Strategic thinking and an independent, goal-oriented approach to work
- Enthusiasm for science and research and an understanding of their social significance
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
