The CiiM was founded in 2015 as a joint initiative of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and Hannover Medical School (MHH) and is the first research institute dedicated explicitly to the development of personalized medicine for infections.
In your role as a building services engineer at the Hannover site, you will ensure the reliable functioning of the technical building equipment, thereby making a key contribution to the safe and smooth running of scientific operations. The new CiiM building is expected to be ready for use in May 2026. In the final months of completion, you will work with colleagues from Braunschweig to take over and transfer the technical structures into regular operation. Integrated into the operational structures of the HZI in Braunschweig, you will then independently take over the maintenance, servicing, and repair of heating, ventilation, sanitation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical systems during regular operation. As the contact person for technical building services and janitorial tasks, you will work in close coordination with the site management in Hanover, colleagues on site and in Braunschweig, colleagues from the neighboring TWINCORE, external specialist companies, and the scientific working groups.
Tasks
- Maintenance of operational and building services equipment (heating, ventilation, sanitation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical engineering) and supply networks (water, deionized water, wastewater, compressed air, technical gases)
- Maintenance and servicing of technical equipment in-house and with the support of external companies
- Inspection and maintenance of legally required equipment, both independently and with the support of external companies (e.g., fire dampers, small electrical appliances, laboratory fume hoods, ladders, and steps)
- Carrying out emergency power tests and accompanying inspections by expert organizations (e.g., elevators)
- Carrying out specialist and cross-trade inspection rounds to ensure trouble-free operation
- Building and service services inside and outside the building
- Coordination of external companies, assistance with waste logistics, and general facility management activities
- Technical monitoring of seminar room electronics and electrical systems
- Support through transport services, postal services, and errands
Prerequisites
- Successfully completed training in a skilled trade, e.g., as a HVAC/R plant mechanic, mechatronics engineer specializing in refrigeration technology, electrician, electronics technician for industrial engineering/energy and building technology/building and infrastructure systems, gas and water installer, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of experience in the operation of electrical systems or in technical building equipment and in the field of measurement and control technology
- Expertise as a designated person for elevator systems
- Basic knowledge of common Office programs
- Class B (new) or Class 3 (old) driver's license
- Willingness to participate in on-call duty
- Ability to work in a team, flexibility, and resilience
