The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases more quickly and effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research focuses on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new effective drugs and vaccines.
As the central point of contact, the technical operations department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of buildings and their technical systems, as well as for planning and construction. Our operations engineering team takes on all operational responsibilities, ensuring smooth processes and a reliable energy supply. The Electrical Engineering group plays a crucial role in the planning, installation and maintenance of the electronic systems for energy supply and infrastructure in the buildings. At the Braunschweig site, we operate our own 20 kV network with transformer stations and emergency power systems, and our technical team ensures the high availability of all scientific and technical equipment.
Tasks
- Carrying out maintenance and repair work on electrical systems and equipment
- Extensions, modifications and repair work on various electrical systems in our buildings and infrastructure facilities
- Regular safety checks and inspections
- Independently troubleshooting malfunctions in operational systems
- Carrying out test runs of emergency power systems
- Instructing and supervising external companies during maintenance work and/or construction measures, followed by acceptance of the services rendered
- Checking electrical equipment
- Participation in on-call duty
Prerequisites
- Completed electrical engineering training as an electrician, electronics technician, mechatronics technician or in a comparable field
- Manual dexterity and experience in working with tools, equipment and systems
- Knowledge in the field of measurement and control technology
- Knowledge of testing electrical systems and equipment
- Open and team-oriented approach to work
- High degree of initiative, reliability and sense of responsibility

39 hours per week
