The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) is the first institution of its kind in the world to combine research on ribonucleic acids (RNA) with infection biology. Based on new findings from our strong basic research programme, we aim to develop innovative therapeutic approaches to better diagnose and treat human infections. A cornerstone of this is the new institute building on the Würzburg Medical Campus. The building represents state-of-the-art technology and is also a diverse workplace and meeting place for all HIRI employees and visitors.
The HIRI is a branch of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, in cooperation with the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (JMU), and is located on the Würzburg Medical Campus.

Tasks
- Maintenance of operational and building services equipment, e.g. electrical systems for building and security services, heating and cooling systems, laboratory cooling water systems and neutralisation systems, ventilation systems, sanitary engineering
- Maintenance and servicing of technical systems independently and with the support of external companies
- Fault analysis and troubleshooting on technical systems
- Carrying out specialist and cross-trade inspection rounds to ensure trouble-free operation
- Housekeeping and services inside and outside the building
- Warehouse management, goods distribution, coordination of external companies, assistance with waste logistics and general facility management tasks
- Support with administrative tasks (assistance with documentation, purchasing and planning activities)
Prerequisites
- Successfully completed technical vocational training, e.g. as a plant mechanic (HVAC), mechatronics engineer (refrigeration technology), electrician, electronics technician for industrial engineering/energy and building technology/building and infrastructure systems, gas and water installer, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of experience in operating electrical systems, knowledge of technical building equipment and in the field of measurement, control and regulation technology
- Basic knowledge of common Office programmes
- Reliable, structured and independent way of working
- Driving licence class B (new) or 3 (old)
- Participation in on-call duty is required
- Basic knowledge of English is desirable
