Prof. Dr. Lothar Jänsch

Lothar Jänsch hat an der Freien Universität Berlin Biologie studiert und 1995 seine Diplomarbeit am Institut für Genbiologische Forschung (IGF) in Berlin angefertigt. Anschließend arbeitete er als Doktorand am IGF und an der Universität Hannover und schloss 1998 mit der Promotion ab.

Nach einer zweijährigen Tätigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter bei der Firma Pfizer wechselte Lothar Jänsch im Jahr 2000 als Postdoc in die Abteilung Zellbiologie der damaligen Gesellschaft für Biotechnologische Forschung (GBF). Von 2003 bis 2006 leitete er dort das Projekt „Identifikation neuer Virulenzfaktoren“ und übernahm 2009 die Leitung der Arbeitsgruppe „Zelluläre Proteomforschung“ am Helmholtz-Zentrum für Infektionsforschung (HZI). Gemeinsam mit der Technischen Universität Braunschweig wurde er 2011 auf die W2 Professur „Proteomforschung in Infektionsprozessen“ berufen.

Sein Forschungsinteresse bilden translationale Projekte mit akademischen, medizinischen und industriellen Partnern, in denen Pathogen-Wirts-Interaktome aufgeklärt und die Kontrollmechanismen von Immunantworten charakterisiert werden.
