Symposium Cells Meet Surface 2

For a long time the interaction between cells and surfaces was a neglected topic. However, it turned out increasingly that this interaction is essential to the well-being of a cell and that the cultivation of cells can be influenced positively or negatively by physical or chemical modification of surfaces.

The scope of this joint meeting of the Berufsverband deutscher Transfusionsmediziner (BDT), the Clinical Centre of Braunschweig, Fraunhofer IST, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and the DECHEMA is to present to clinicians and clinical-oriented scientists the latest developments in this field.

Main emphases of this symposium are put on the modification of surfaces and the technical possibilities to improve these and to influence the characteristics of cells. We also present methods to analyze interactions between cells and surfaces, the development of complex cell culture systems, as well as initial attempts in clinical practice. To discuss and to develop further these interdisciplinary approaches we would like to bring together scientists from different communities.
