Sites of the Helmholtz Centre
The Sites of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research are distributed all over Germany. In addition to the main campus in Braunschweig, there are facilities in five other cities: Hamburg, Hanover, Saarbrücken, Würzburg and Greifswald.
Campus Braunschweig
At our headquarters in Braunschweig research focuses on the three main topics „Bacterial and viral pathogens“, „Immune response and immune intervention“ and „Anti-infectives“. How do bacteria and viruses make us sick? How does the immune system fight these pathogens? And which substances can protect us from infections in the future? These are the key questions that the scientists address at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig.
The majority of the approximately 900 employees in Braunschweig are researchers, but management, administration and staff units are also hosted here.

On the campus of 96.000 m² there are 20 buildings with a total lab area of 7.000 m². The extensive infrastructure on the campus also includes our technology platforms.
Besides our own laboratories, the Leibniz Institute DSMZ German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures and the pharmaceutical biotechnology labs of the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (ITEM) are located on our campus. Another guest on our grounds is the school lab BioS.
The conference hall "Forum"

The Conference Hall (Forum) of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research was opened in the year 2000 as a meeting place for lectures, seminars, symposia and other events.
Rooms are for rent to external companies, organizations and other interested parties. With its modern ambience and contemporary media technology it offers attractive premises for talks, presentations, exhibitions and other events.
