The staff members of the staff unit Third-Party Funds Acquisition (DA) advise and support the scientists of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), the German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ) and the Centre of Experimental and Clinical Research (TWINCORE) in the application of third-party funds and are assigned with the administrative processing of current funds. The scientists of the HZI will be regularly informed about general and current possibilities of funding of the different national and international funding agencies.

The Research financed by third-party funds will be granted on national level mainly by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG). On international level the research projects will be funded predominantly by the Framework Program of the EU.

Moreover the staff members of DA provide individual advice to HZI scientists and assist with project application. Within this scope, DA takes over the application and contract negotiations with the national and international Funding Agencies as well as the preparation and revision (in cooperation with the legal department) of cooperation- and R&D-contracts within the third-party funding.
