The project group „Biostatistics“ is part of the research group „Cellular Proteome Research” which is led by Lothar Jänsch.
The massive scale of today’s mass spectrometry-based data acquisition has made data reliability and good analysis strategies of paramount importance. We try to alleviate these topics.
Frank Klawonn received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Braunschweig in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He is the head of the bioinformatics and statistics group at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig.
He is also the director of the Institute for Applied Informatics at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Wolfenbuettel (Germany) where he leads the Lab for Data Analysis and Pattern Recognition (DAPaR). He is a member of the scientific advisory board of BITZ (Braunschweiger Informatics and Technology Centre).
His main research interests focus on exploratory data analysis, data visualisation, robust and computational statistics. He is a member of the editorial board of international journals like Data Mining, Modelling & Management (IJDMMM), Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA) and Evolving Systems (ES).
