Josef Penninger, Geneticist and Visionary, becomes the New Scientific Director of the HZI
On July 1, 2023, Prof. Dr. Josef Penninger will take over as Scientific Director of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI). The geneticist has received many international awards for his outstanding contributions to genetics and molecular biology. His vision for the HZI is simple: "You have to know what you want to be. We want to be the best research institute for infection biology in the world!”
