(HZI / jkr)"For me, being admitted to the academy is a great honor," says Petra Dersch. "The academy gives me the opportunity to improve my networking with leading microbiologists in Europe, to initiate new common ways to elucidate complex microbiological and infection-biological processes and to support the exchange of knowledge about microbial pathogens."

The European Academy of Microbiology organises conferences and congresses, arranges scientific training and develops recommendations on critical topics in microbiology. The members are renowned scientists in the field of microbiology and are elected by the academy in consultation with their board and the superordinate Federation of European Microbiological Societies.
