Stefan Feske "CRAC Calcium Channels - Regulators of Immunity to Infection and Autoimmunity"

Stefan Feske

CRAC channels constitute the main calcium influx pathway in the immune system. They regulate the activation, function and differentiation of many immune cells. Human patients with inherited defects of essential CRAC channel components and mice with targeted deletion of CRAC channel genes show an increased susceptibility to severe infection that is due to compromised adaptive and innate immune responses. CRAC channels also regulate immunological self-tolerance by controlling the differentiation and function of proinflammatory and regulatory T cells. In this seminar, we will discuss the multiple roles of CRAC channels in the regulation of immunity to infection and autoimmunity.

  • Overview

The "HZI Colloquium" is a scientific lecture series at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, organized to host internationally renowned experts from the field of infection research. Invited guest speakers present their current research activities to a scientific audience. The presentation is followed by an open discussion.
We cordially invite interested scientists to take part in this colloquium.
The HZI Colloquium takes place on Wednesdays, 5.15 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. in the Forum, X0.13.
