Symposium and Jürgen Wehland Award

The topic of this year’s NoRDI VIII symposium is "Anti-infective strategies in the post-antibiotic era". The one-day meeting will focus on innovative and alternative approaches against anti-microbial resistance that go beyond the likewise important screening for new antibiotics or measures such as improved hygiene and antibiotic stewardship. The symposium will be divided into three sessions: Epidemiology, Public Health & Anti Transmission Strategies, RNA in Infection, Alternative Therapies.

The “North Regio Day on Infection” (NoRDI) was established in 2010 as a central event and meeting place for scientists from universities and research institutions from Northern Germany. The participants can exchange research results and discuss important questions and future challenges in different fields of infection biology.

The meeting is of great interest especially for junior scientists, giving them the chance to present their research results and discuss them with established scientists in the field. They can submit an abstract to take part in the poster exhibition. The best entries will be selected for short talks (submission starts with registration August).

Traditionally, embedded in the scientific programme is the Jürgen Wehland Award ceremony for young scientists in infection research. The ceremony takes place in honourable remembrance of the former Scientific Director of the HZI.
