Heiner Niemann "Epigenetic reprogramming and transgenesis in the domestic pig"

Heiner_Niemann

The birth of "Dolly", the cloned sheep, has abolished the century old dogma implying that a differentiated cell cannot be reprogrammed into pluripotent state. Since then, somatic cell nuclear transfer based cloning has emerged as an important tool for basic scientifc studies in a variety of areas and for improving transgenic animal production. The presentation will cover recent research results on epigenetic reprogramming by somatic cloning and transgenic pig production for xenotransplantation.
