POSTPONED HDDC 2020: 3rd Helmholtz Drug Discovery Conference

HDDC 2020 postponed

After careful consideration and consultation with the management board of the Helmholtz Centre, we decided to postpone the HDDC2020 to a later date this year. We regret to take this step, but given the current situation, with sharply rising infection rates with SARS-CoV-2 in Europe and in Germany, we consider this as the most reasonable decision for everybody.

We do not want to put the health of conference attendees at risk, and we also want to avoid the risk that participants may be forced into quarantine measures.

Our intention is to keep the excellent scientific program, including the attractive workshops and the industry program.

All applications for posters and short talks (we received many, thanks a lot to you!) will remain valid.

The new date will be announced very soon.

In case you cannot attend on the alternate date, please contact Bettina Mehner for the reverse transfer of the conference fee. For any other questions please contact Kirsten Harmrolfs or Mark Brönstrup.

Best regards,
Mark Brönstrup, Kamyar Hadian and Anna Hirsch
for the Helmholtz Drug Research Initiative

Attracting a high-level audience of researchers, the conference will provide a stimulating platform to discuss the state of the art in drug discovery with academic experts and scientists from biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
With topics focusing on anti-infectives, innovative screens, novel targets and target validation, computational approaches incl. artificial intelligence (AI) and more, this event will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the challenges and chances of modern drug discovery in academia and industry.

In order to foster interaction and knowledge gain in the field, we are pleased to welcome an exceptional group of internationally renowned speakers. Additionally, we will feature oral presentations and poster sessions of submitted abstracts at the HDDC 2020.

Braunschweig's scientific environment will provide an excellent framework for scientific exchange with junior investigators and leading scientists in the fields of drug research and chemical biology. The conference will coincide with the official inauguration of the new building for drug discovery and functional genomics on the campus of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research by Stephan Weil (Prime Minister of Lower Saxony), Otmar Wiestler (President of the Helmholtz Association), and further representatives from politics and science.

Further information can be found in the event flyer.

Hosted by:

  • Prof. Dr. Mark Brönstrup (HZI) - Chemical Biology
  • Prof. Dr. Anna K. H. Hirsch (HIPS) - Drug Design and Optimization
  • Dr. rer. nat. Kamyar Hadian (HMGU) - Molecular Toxicology and Pharmacology
