Doctoral researcher in Chemical Biology / Virology (f, m, d)
The department of „Chemical Biology“ offers a position as doctoral researcher in Chemical Biology / Virology (f, m, d). The strategic aim of our department is to discover and characterize novel anti-infectives through screening, mode of action studies and chemical synthesis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the investigation of the cellular and molecular mechanism of antiviral lead compounds within the network COFONI (corona research in Lower Saxony). For this purpose, assays sampling SARS-CoV-2 replication will be developed in several host cells and applied to diverse compound collections. The cellular and molecular mechanism of action will be studied by a combination of virological, biochemical and chemoproteomic techniques, in close collaboration with chemistry groups of the network. A part of the work will be performed in biosafety level 3 laboratories on the campus.
Candidates should have a completed master degree in cell biology, biochemistry, virology or related disciplines and should be highly motivated to develop their scientific skills. First experiences with independent planning of experimental methods (molecular biology, biochemistry and bioanalytics) are required. Expertise in virology is considered an advantage. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team is mandatory.
The centre provides modern laboratories, state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation, ample biological profiling platforms (in vitro and in vivo), a lively scientific community and support for an individual personal development, that will provide the ideal background to further develop the career of successful candidates.
Equal opportunities are part of our human resource policy – qualified women are especially invited to apply. With equal professional qualification, severely disabled persons will be prioritized.
