The HZI International Graduate School for Infection Research (GS-FIRE) provides an innovative structured PhD programme within the field of Infection Research.
Implemented at the campus of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig together with its partner universities GS-FIRE has created an electrifying environment where young researchers are stimulated to exchange knowledge with their colleagues, peers and leading scientists from around the world. Besides intensive scientific training the young researchers have the possibility of improving their soft skills and advancing their interdisciplinary knowledge in preparation for the job market.
PhD Candidates and Supervisors
About 180 PhD candidates take part in the PhD programme of GS-FIRE. Over a period of three years, participants complete their doctoral thesis and participate in a structured training programme. In addition to their intensive scientific training they improve their soft skills and gain interdisciplinary knowledge in preparation for the job market.
About 60 scientists at the HZI, Twincore, the Medical School Hannover, the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg, the University of Veterinary Medicine of Hannover, the Leibniz University of Hannover and the Technical University of Braunschweig supervise the candidates during their PhD.
