Zellbiologie

Wir als Zellbiologen untersuchen Wirt-Pathogen-Interaktionen auf der Ebene einzelner Zellen, die die kleinste lebende Einheit auf beiden Seiten darstellt. Sobald ein Pathogen mit Wirtszellen in Kontakt kommt, muss es das „normale“ Zellverhalten manipulieren, um eine Überlebensnische zu etablieren, beziehungsweise den Abwehrmechanismen des Wirtes zu entkommen. Wir studieren genau diese von Pathogenen verursachten Veränderungen, um zu verstehen, welche Prozesse sie im Wirt angreifen – und warum.
