Molekulare Zellbiologie

Das Zytoskelett ist im Körper für die mechanische Stabilisierung der Zelle und ihre äußere Form, für aktive Bewegungen der Zelle als Ganzes, sowie für Bewegungen und Transporte innerhalb der Zelle verantwortlich. Die Arbeitsgruppe "Molekulare Zellbiologie" beschäftigt sich mit einem bestimmten Teil des Zytoskeletts: dem Aktinzytoskelett. Dieses spielt sowohl bei der effektiven Immunantwort als auch als Angriffspunkt für Pathogene eine Rolle. Die molekularen Mechanismen zu verstehen, die den Auf- und Umbau der Aktinstrukturen steuern ist eines der Ziele von Klemens Rottner und seinem Team.
