Krankheitserreger gelangen auf unterschiedlichen Wegen zu uns. Zwei wichtige Pfade: Lebensmittel und Trinkwasser. Lösen Erreger aus Lebensmitteln Epidemien aus, muss schnell der Ausgangspunkt der Infektionskette gefunden werden, um der Krankheitswelle gegensteuern zu können. Unsere Wissenschaftler haben einen Weg gefunden, mit dem sie die Infektionspfade bakterieller Erreger aus Nahrungsmitteln und Trinkwasser nachvollziehen können. Mit diesen hochauflösenden Methoden lassen sich selbst einzelne Stämme bakterieller Krankheitserreger identifizieren.
