IMAGING PHAGOCYTOSIS: RECEPTORS; PHOSPHOLIPIDS AND SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION
Sergio Grinstein is an eminent scientist in the Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute, holder of the Pitblado Chair in Cell Biology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and a professor of Biochemistry at the University of Toronto. He is internationally recognized for his outstanding research in the control of intracellular pH and the elucidation of mechanisms underlying the microbicidal response of macrophages and neutrophils (a recent review attached). He has been an International Scholar of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and recipient of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Distinguished Scientist Award, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
For PhD students: to give the students the opportunity to interact with him, a lunch on Friday after the talk with some PhD students of the HZI is organized. There, you will have the chance to talk to him about science and career options in Academia in a relaxed atmosphere. Please let Dr. Maximiliano Gutierrez know who will be interested in participate. There are some places still free.
