Histology / Pathology Service Unit
A histo-pathology platform has been established as a central service unit at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research. The unit is serving several projects and research groups who need histological services and require pathology expertise. The unit is operated in cooperation with the Institute of Pathology at the University of Veterinary Medicine (TiHo).
With more and more projects performing infection challenge experiments in mice and studying mechanisms of host-defense in newly generated transgenic mice or genetically altered pathogen strains, the need for a detailed histological analysis and a pathological interpretation of results from in vivo experiments will greatly increase in the near future. To meet these demands, the histology/pathology unit has been established. Its services are being offered on a subsidized fee-for-service billing.
A database has been generated where the users can follow the status of their ongoing projects and retrieve all data related to their past orders, including reports from the pathologist and the billing information.
