Career at the Helmholtz Centre
The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) offers diverse career options for scientists. Young researchers have the opportunity to found their own groups, for instance aided by the Young Investigator Groups programme of the Helmholtz Association. In cooperation with our partner universities we appoint professorships on two different levels.
In cooperation with universities the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) is appointing professorships on two different levels: “W2” for group leaders and “W3” for department leaders.
Prof. Gérard Krause took the lead of the newly established department “Epidemiology” of the HZI on 01.08.2011. This call for professorship was made in cooperation with the Hanover Medical School (MHH). Krause will remain department leader at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin. This can strengthen the collaboration between the HZI and the RKI.
In autumn 2011 the joint call for a W3 professorship at HZI and MHH was given to Prof. Susanne Häußler. Her professorship is supported by the Initiating and Networking fund of the Helmholtz Association. Since 01.03.2012, Susanne Häußler is leading the new department “Molecular Bacteriology” at the HZI.
As of 01.01.2012, Prof. Marc Stadler is leading the research group “Microbial Drugs” at the HZI. This professorship is appointed together with the Technische Universität Braunschweig.
